Increasing Collections at Maury Regional Medical Center
Through the use of PMMC’s contract management solution, Maury Regional Medical Center gained the ability to monitor the overall performance of its payer contracts so that the organization could negotiate improved reimbursement in future contracts. The solution also allows Maury Regional Medical Center to identify and validate underpayments, and gives the organization the ability to track and recover those amounts from the primary insurance company.
Underpayment Recovery at Liberty Hospital
Liberty Hospital sought out to free up cash flow by undergoing a retrospective recovery engagement that complements their existing contract management system. “PMMC CONTRACT PRO and the complementary recovery engagement have worked well for Liberty Hospital. It has helped us accelerate cash recovery, improve overall contract performance, and identify process improvements," said Erin Parde, CFO.
Developing Defensible Pricing at Trinity Hospital Twin City
Trinity Hospital Twin City needed to develop defensible pricing for the CDM and get pricing in line with local competitors. “It was good just to get a price for everything. We looked at Ohio as a whole, then our local market, and lastly we looked at four other Critical Access facilities. I was able to lower prices and increase prices while seeing the impact,” said Halli Sell, Director of Revenue Cycle.
Maury Regional Medical Center How to Increase Reimbursements and Upfront Collections
Maury Regional Medical Center identified opportunities to collect underpayments from its contracted payers and improve point-of-service collections. This translated into a 13% growth in total patient collections and a nearly 650% return on investment in the first year alone. "Patient Access now has a more proactive role in cash collections and the revenue cycle. Two years ago, 5% of our patient collections were at the time of service. Through process changes we increased this to 12-15%. By incorporating PMMC's patient estimation system, we have seen this increase to 22-26% each month," said Rodney Adams, Director of Pre-Service and Patient Access
